Recipe Springrolls

Kyat Thon Laik - Potato Masala Springrolls.


3 medium potatos
2 brown onions
1 tsp salt
1 tsp tumerick
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp Burmese roasted masala*
2 tbsp vegetable oil
10 springroll wrappers (20cm square)
2 tbsp plain flour mixed with water to form a paste
Oil for deep frying


  1. Finely julienne potatos and finely slice onion.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in frypan.
  3. Fry on mediuim heat all ingredients for about 5 minutes or until potatos are sof.t
  4. Leave mixture to cool in fridge.
  5. Roll springrolls according to method shown in video - using about 1tbsp of potato mixture.
  6. Deep fry until golden and crispy.

Makes 10 Spring Rolls

* For best results use Kha Re Mar's Kitchen Roasted Masala, purchased from the Free Burma Cafe. If you can't get to the cafe, you can get Burmese Masala at Burmese Grocery Stores or as a last result Indian garam masala can be used.
